Three year old boys love monster trucks and dirt. It’s a broad generalization that I’m comfortable making because I was once a three year old boy myself. They can spend countless hours in the dirt sending their trucks over tracks and mountains. Now we’ve put the trucks and the dirt all in one package that won’t create a mess in your house. Play dirt is the cleanest dirt your boy can spend the afternoon in!
I’ll admit: As a parent, I’m not crazy about the slime revolution. Slime is equal parts sticky, cold, gross. Putty, however, is an entirely different animal. It’s tactile and satisfying, you can stretch it, tear it, pop it, and it never dries out or sticks to the sofa. Super Scarab in particular is more than that because it color shifts as you play with it. Crazy Aaron has led the putty revolution with this incredibly fascinating and creative stuff that your boy—and honestly, you—will play with for hours.
It can be a real challenge helping your kids get a little neater, especially for a 3 year old boy, whose first instinct is probably not neatness. Help him start a lifetime of tidiness with this cool toy modelled after a real Dyson Ball vacuum. The ball action means it handles like a dream, and it makes noise, has cyclone action in the tank, and actually has a little bit of working suction. Not exactly like the big boys, but close! This is a great first start to showing your boy that cleaning doesn’t necessarily have to be a chore, it can be fun too.
Sometimes there’s nothing better to keep a young person busy than some good old-fashioned bubbles. But with a little style and pizzazz, bubbles don’t have to be old fashioned. The Light Up Bubbleizer is a classic toy every kid should have, because it takes normal bubbles and turns them into a self-contained light show. Plus it blows the bubbles for you! You know what they say: Work smart not hard. A valuable lesson to learn early in life.
This set is brilliant for little racers. The track pieces snap together easily and create a twisty, turny track that bends in all kinds of ways. The flashing LED car races along the track in whatever direction you point it, so between the light up car and light up track, you can race all night long. Or at least for as long as mom and dad don’t catch you.
I know sometimes you have to fight to get him to bathe, and he has to bathe. Make bath time a little easier with this adorable little bath companion that doubles as a wash cloth. Just put some soap in Tank the Shark’s mouth and swish it around to make a huge amount of suds. Once dry, Tank becomes a perfect soft little companion again. Just look at the goofy smile!
Every boy needs one of these, but at 3 years old he’s just too young for the real thing. Give him the plastic version instead so he can venture out with the family into the wild, and know he’s well equipped. This plastic replica of a swiss army knife includes all of the basics of the real thing, with none of the sharp edges.
A firm favorite of young kids, this fun, fuzzy bowling set is great for developing motor skills and hand/eye coordination. The plush monster pins are unique and soft so he can play indoors without making too much racket. More importantly, he won’t break a window if—and when—he winds up and full out chucks the ball at the pins as hard as he can. You know he’s going to.
So, it’s time to get him out of the house? That’s okay, we’ve got you covered there, too. Teach him how to make enormous bubbles with this simple kit. All you need is some water and dish soap, add the included bubble powder to make a full gallon of bubble solution. The lightweight wands are easy to handle, and they make giant, world engulfing bubbles that will keep him busy for a while.
This is the kid-powered rocket that he’ll have a blast with. It combines two of his favorite activities at 3 years old: stomping on stuff and watching stuff fly into the air. It’s that simple. The Stomp Rocket was made for young rocketeers, and who knows, maybe you’ll inspire him to aim for a career in aerospace engineering. Just keep in mind he’s only 3, but you have to start somewhere!
What is fast and loud and crunchy? A rocket chip!
